 Overall Comments and Feed Forward

Assessors were impressed with the overall quality of your shooting and observational skills, and with your enthusiasm towards expanding on these skills (e.g. through experimentation with lighting); you have a strong foundation of technical ability from which to express your creative ideas as you progress through the BA pathway. While assessors were impressed with the strength of your images it is important to note that the ideas behind your assignments need to be researched and expressed (at least in essence) in their own right, as you began to do in Assignment 5. Print quality needs more attention (the diving pictures are quite ‘flat’, tonally).

The learning log, though well organised and showing plenty of engagement with the course materials, lacks any real in-depth reflection, which is a vital element of the overall learning process. (We do note however that assignment image selections have been revised in light of feedback.) You are encouraged to take advantage of the option for audio-visual tutorials in your next course, enabling feedback to open up into a much more interactive dialogue.

Visual research is strong and seems to inform your practice; more contextual research (photography theory and researching your own ideas) will add depth and ultimately academic rigour.
